Difference between a broken community and a thriving one …

Speaker: Noma Shepherd

Noma is locally famous for her massive and ongoing community contribution. A recent recipient of the Kiwibank Local Hero Award, Noma will share some of her insights into what drives her to continually give, in her drive to see her backyard in a better place.

Noma’s grandson, Hayden completed a wonderful nomination for her Local Hero award detailing some of her incredible achievements to the community. These include being a mother of 5, Grandmother of 13, Great Grandmother of 9, Wife, Aunty, Friend, Author, MNZM, Chairperson and all round local legend.

Noma has been the head of the Country Womens Institute for the Bay of Islands, Chairperson of the community board, is currently the Chairperson for the Hundertwasser Park Charitable Trust, is a Justice of the Peace and has been for many years and driving force in the regeneration of Kawakawa and at 82 years of age is showing no signs of slowing down. Serving her community seems to come naturally to this lady.

Looking forward to seeing as many of you that can make it.
