Karleen has a passion for Northland. CEO of Manaaki Solutions Ltd, a small indigenous company based in Tai Tokerau (Bay of Islands) which was established in 2006 and provides quality event and project management services, COO (Chief Operating Officer) for Te Putea Whakatupu Trust, appointed as Director to Northland Inc in June 2013 and also a Council Member (Governance Role) with NorthTec, having been appointed to this position in January 2015. Karleen considers these last two governance roles as significant game changes for the Northland landscape. ‘There are many opportunities to grow Northland’s economic position, my space of thinking is on the Maori economy in Northland (Tai Tokerau). I appreciate that the Maori Economy operates on a number of platforms, individual private business, collective organizations, hapu and iwi operations. As a private micro business owner and operator here in Tai Tokerau I understand the challenges and opportunities for Tai Tokerau, for Northland. And I acknowledge and celebrate all whom contribute to the Maori economy. For as we do, we contribute to the wider NZ and Global economy.’
