Speaker: David Wilson – Northland Inc, the Economic Development and Regional Tourism Agency for Northland
David has been leading Northland Inc, the Economic Development and Regional Tourism Agency for Northland, since September 2013. In September 2015, David was appointed Chair of the Economic Development Agency of New Zealand (EDANZ) and looks forward to working with other regions in New Zealand to improve policy and practice in regional development. Prior to this David was Director of the Institute of Public Policy at AUT University where he designed and led the Graduate Diploma in Economic Development, led numerous research projects and consultancies and played a key role in the design and implementation of the ‘Metropolitan Auckland Project’. He has a BA in psychology and social policy; a Masters in Public Policy with first class honours and is completing his PhD in regional economic development. David is married to Anna, a GP, with two children; Jessica who is studying dance and Ash who is studying philosophy. David loves surfing, basketball, rugby, fishing and most of all family time at Rangiputa in the Far North.
